Looking for Utopia

There is a tension in the air that I can’t describe. I’m not sure of the origin and I can’t find the epicenter. At first I thought that it was just me. I’m trying to be encouraging and upbeat and have a calming influence on those around me. My assumption was that I was somehow failing. Then things happened. It isn’t me. Perhaps it is just the normal consequence of the days getting shorter and the temperatures dropping. Winter in Northern Indiana tends to grey skies and very little sunshine which does affect moods and activity levels. So the question becomes, “How do you bring some positivity (and sunshine) into the work place?” Sure everyone likes a doughnut now and then but that isn’t the answer. I want harmony and collegiality – a true teamwork environment. Gah! I want that but that is probably not what I’m going to get…

Perfection selection
Workplace master race
Employee deportee
Production destruction
Teamwork berserk
Mishaps relapse
Hoodwink rethink
Forego status quo
Utopia myopia

  1. I think there’s something in the air. Or maybe a full moon.
The kid got so mad at me yesterday. Hadn’t seen her all weekend and then she accused me of being close-minded and “beaming scorn”. Pretty sure it wasn’t me.
Here’s hoping this week is calmer at work for you.

    1. I had 2 sons so didn’t experience the hormonal swings of the teen female. My sisters both had daughters and they made me glad I only had boys! I’m sort of kinda sure that all the drama will pass. Someday. Hope your week is calmer too.

  2. We had a small snake show up in one of the offices at work this morning . . . that kind of created a “true teamwork environment” in removing it from the building — not sure that would be my suggestion for resolving the tension in the air though. 🙂

    1. Hahaha! A snake at work would have been just another day – no one would have batted an eye. Glad you were able to experience “teamwork” but uniting against a common threat isn’t my idea of fun.
